Bees

When we rent beehives they come with bees included. When we sell beehives they come without bees. So, you may ask where do I get the bees from? Generally, we are working hard to generate enough colonies for all the new rentals, with few if any spare to sell some too.

Swarms are a common way to start a hive, if you join a local club and are on their swarm collection list then that is ideal. But if you have no opportunity, can't take time off work or it is the wrong season you can often buy a nucleus colony.

Nucleus colonies to start a top bar hive can be created by growing a Nuc using a Lang hive with wedges or you can buy one already done for you from a breeder.
