Terms and Conditions for Hive Rental
The rentals are for 12 months at a time.
We need to have access to the hive at all time.
Inspections are done during the warmest time of the day, we will generally let you know in advance when we will be coming.
Payment Terms:
Yearly rental start from $660 for location under 10km from our base.
After we find a suitable location, a $250 non-refundable deposit is needed before installation. The rest of the yearly rental will be payed fully upon arrival of the bee colony. This covers the next 12 months with bees.
2 months notice is needed to cancel the rental after the first year.
Monthly direct debit payments are welcome in second and subsequent years, but a 12 month commitment is needed.
In the case of your colony dying, we will endeavour to replace the colony within two months (hopefully within weeks!). However, this can take some time, particularly through the winter. If we are unable to replace the colony within two months, we will cease charging the monthly rental value until the hive is populated again.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Between:______________________
(Hirer)
And: Nathalie De Clerck
Seaside Bees
(Owner)
The hirer agrees to a 12 month commitment for the hive rental and to look after the hive and to let the owners know if anything seems wrong.
The owners agree to maintain the hive with regular inspections, including obligations for all legal requirements such as levies, annual return and certificates of inspection, all in return for an annual rental charge of $_______.
The owners will provide honeycomb which we think is surplus to harvest.
The hirer will need to be provide containers to put the harvested comb into directly.
Normally one or two 20 litre food grade buckets with sealing lids should be left in an agreed place.
If the hirer is not the owner of the property where the hive will be sited, the hirer agrees to obtain approval from the property owner before the hive is installed.
The hirer agrees that the address where the hive will be positioned is covered by home and contents insurance should the hive be stolen or destroyed in unforeseen circumstances.
If the colony was to die, become diseased or fail through factors such as insecticide spraying through no fault of the hirer, the owner will replace the colony as soon as practical, but this can't always be done immediately.
If the hirer moves house or can no longer have bees, the owner will work through the options and refund any leftover monies after consideration of costs to the end of the current term.
The hirer gives full access and permission for the owner to maintain and inspect the hive at all times and even to remove the colony if the need arises. The owner agrees to give as much notice as possible before making access to the hive.
The hirer agrees not to sublet, charge or part with possession of the hive.
The hirer understands that honey bees are normally very docile, but can be dangerous if treated inappropriately. The hirer acknowledges there is risk of harm from the bees and agree the owner has no liability in respect of any harm caused to the hirer or any third party.
The owners reserve the right to cancel the agreement if the bees or the hive are felt to be in danger.
Nothing in this agreement is intended to alter the consumer guarantees act.
The owners and hirer both agree to use the small claims tribunal or some form of low cost mediation should a difficulty arise.
